Ken tested his original FlatBar concept on a 158K trip around Europe and Middle East.

HDG FLATBARS: We have designed a set of flat handle bar grips that reduces stress and strain on the wrists and hands. Our Flat bars were tested on long cross country rides before we went into production, with excellent results. We have clocked over 158,000 miles on the first pair, in all conditions, since 1997. Suggested applications for our current line of FlatBar grips are: motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs. Designer Ken Hunter and Other Designs.

Hunter FlatBars (patent pending) are ergonomic handle bar conversion kits for motorcycles that put the vibration damping between your hand and the engine, unlike bar end weights which allow the vibrations to travel through your hands. The solid aluminum cast FlatBars are approximately 7/16" wide, covered by an 1/8" thin flexible rubber foam grip. The Thickest point is just over 1/2". The solid aluminum handles, transmit steering inputs thru the INSIDE of the handlebar. The Throttle side seperates the forces of steering from the rotational forces of acceleration. Both sides have specially designed vibration damping bushings, a firm flexible cushion, and thumb reliefs.

Materials and tests results: Regular Flatbars are solid A-380 Aluminum, cast at 160 tons. Every 30th casting is tested to destruction using a 'Charpy Notch Test' (which measures breaking strength). We recommend Cast FlatBars for all road bikes and non-motorcycle uses.

Grip Covers all FlatBars ship with grips that are waterproof and sunproof EPDM.

Billet FlatBars are designed like Hunter FlatBars, to reduce vibrations and protect the hands, but they are hand machined from solid Aluminum to meet the demands of extreme riders, and are strongly suggested for serious racers, people who drop their bikes a lot, off-road and dirt bikes.

Materials and tests results: Billet FlatBars are solid 6061T6 tempered aircraft aluminum. I have seen one billet FlatBar that hit the highway at 75 MPH. it bent 28 degrees. We recommend Billet FlatBars only for all racing, police, dirt bike/ATV, and high power applications (track day bikes, stunters, and other hooligans)

Hunter SupR DampR with vibration damping If you wish to return your FlatBars to cylindrical whie keeping the vibration damping features of FlatBars you may use the our SupR DampR.

Vibration damping Hunter FlatBars are available for Motorcycles, scooters, and ATVs.
