Q: Do I need extra shimming on my Buell XB12S? 

A: From the measurements, Buell uses a thin wall handlebar bar. Most handlebar IDs are usually around .69-.71", yet you are measuring .737" ID on your XB12S. This explains why you need extra damping tape. (All future shipments to Buell owners will include extra damper tape. (That's why we need the bike year, make, and model when you order.) You only need the .015 thickness that I sent, and likely you won't even have to go all of the way around on each of the 3 blue dampers. Damping characteristics for the foam tape that I use improves with more thickness, so your set will actually perform a bit better. Just remember, allow no wrinkles in the tape during installation.
